2019 Southern California LGBTQIA Wellness Conference

Interested in learning how to improve treat LGBTQIA+ patients and colleagues? Read below for a wonderful opportunity organized in part by your young man DGSOM/UCLA colleagues!

The 5th Annual SoCal LGBTQIA Health Conference will exist held at UC Irvine on January 20th 2019! This yr nosotros are featuring four tracks: Empowering Allies, Supporting One Some other, Cocky-care and Wellness, and Continuing Medical Education (CME).

This pupil-led briefing is a collaboration of the wellness professional schools in Southern California, ranging from medical, PA, pharmacy, and Chiropractic schools, and is sponsored by several of our local universities and hospitals, including DGSOM and UCLA Health! Attendees of this conference will proceeds insights from providers who work extensively in the field and also deepen their own understanding about the various experiences within the LGBTQIA community. CME hours are available for providers.

UCLA Wellness supported the annual Models of Pride 2018 LGBTQ youth conference resource off-white at Cal Country Los Angeles on October 20. With more than than two,000 attendees, the Resource Fair provides an opportunity for youth to find support and resources from all over Los Angeles and beyond and know they are not alone. UCLA Health staff shared information nigh our LGBTQ Health Initiative and our organization's related services, including the EMPWR Program and the Gender Health Programme.

UCLA Health made its inaugural advent at the 2018 LA Pride Festival and Parade in West Hollywood on June nine and 10. This is part of our LGBTQ Health Initiative to provide compassionate, inclusive and equitable care to our diverse community of patients and their families, and support our staff who assist make UCLA Health No. 1 in Los Angeles.

LA Pride participants had a chance to visit our UCLA Health booth to testify their support, learn more near our LGBTQ Health Initiative and the UCLA Gender Health Program, and most our participation in this year's festival and parade in West Hollywood.

In this case-based presentation, Natalie Ramos, MD will discuss existing disparities among gender non-conforming and transgender patients and explore how clinicians and trainees can provide more effective, sensitive mental health care.
